Sotheby's was originally founded in London by Samuel Baker with the first auction on March 11, 1744. The auction house has now expanded to 90 locations in 40 countries conducting 250 auctions each year and are deemed specialists in the best of over 70 categories, including Fine and Decorative Arts, Jewelry and Wine. From this distinguished heritage grew the international real estate brand founded in 1976.
